I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT#97315). I hold a Master's Degree from California State University Long Beach in Marriage and Family Therapy. I completed my undergraduate education at Koc University, Istanbul which is where I am originally from. I worked as a Program Supervisor and a Clinical Therapist at a residential addiction treatment facilities before opening up my own practice. I am also an adjunct faculty at Chapman University Psychology Department, teaching Abnormal Psychology.
I provide a non-judgmental and empathetic therapy approach to my clients. I strive to provide my clients a space where they feel safe. As much as our physical health is important, our mental is important as well. Therapy is such a powerful space where you can open up about your thoughts and feelings that you were not able to share with your family and loved ones.
I see addiction as the solution, not the problem itself. Unresolved problems lie underneath addiction and if an individual doesn't address the underlying problems, he/she will be stuck in the cycle of addiction.
Being exposed to various Eastern and Western cultures, I have developed a multicultural capability that helps me relate to individuals from various cultural backgrounds. I am bilingual in Turkish.
As much as I love being available to my clients and students, I am also a continued education unit (CEU) provider through CAMFT. I provide trainings on the following topics:
Addiction and Family Systems
Addiction and Trauma
Ethical and Professional Issues in Addiction Counseling
